In Dawn's Memory
I am Dawn Thompson's sister. Dawn's recent passing was a terrible, unexpected shock to both family and fans alike. I am happy to join the blog to keep my sister's memory alive, and toward that effort, I am working on transcribing one of her earlier works, Drake's Lair, which never had a real release, so that her fans that missed it before will soon be able to find it. Dawn wanted to be an author all her life. I remember when we were children, she would color pages in a coloring book and make up stories as she went along to amuse me. Although her career was cut way to short, by her untimely passing, I am so happy that she was able to realize her dream. Dawn did not want to be forgotten, and judging from the wonderful overwhelming response from her many fans, I'm sure that she won't be. She has left us other works which will also be released and her many fans will have those to look forward to as well. Diane Thompson

Diane,
Your sister was a very private person who shared parts of herself with the world. I know she would be proud to know you are making her dreams come true.

Hi Steph I am honored to be Dawn's sister. As I am transcribing her work, it's just like she is STILL telling me stories, like when we were little ! Diane
Hi Diane I miss Dawn so much every single day !!! When I first started transcribing her work, it was very difficult, I cried too much while I was typing.......thinking how she won't be writing any MORE stories, but she did leave us some that have yet to be published and we're all very grateful for that !!! Diane
Hi Char Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so happy that you enjoyed her books. I'm also glad that there will be more works coming from Dawn in the future for all to enjoy. Diane
Hi Roxann Dawn surely did leave us way before her time. Her career as an author was way too brief. I'm just so glad that she left more works as her legacy that will be published in the future for all to enjoy and remember her by, and I am glad that I can have a part in making that happen for her. Diane
Hi Tonni It has been a very difficult time. Dawn's passing was very unexpected. Thanks to all the wonderful support from her fans, I know that her wish to NOT BE FORGOTTEN will come true, and I'm just so very happy that I am able to have a part in helping that happen in transcribing her works that are yet to be published. Diane
Hi Nicki Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Dawn's books. I am so pleased that I can have a part in carrying out her dream and making her Legacy continue with more works that her readers may enjoy. Diane
Hi Billie You are very right! Dawn was a private person...she shared herself mainly through her works, and I am so pleased that I am able to help to carry out her Legacy and see that the books that she left us that have not yet been published will soon be on the shelves for all her fans to enjoy. Diane
Hi Diane,
This is an awesome thing you're doing here and I'm sure your sister is smiling down at you. God Bless You.

Diane, I'm so happy you're able to take over Dawn's blog. It must be difficult in several ways, but you're doing terrfic!
Jacquie
Hi Rhonda I feel like Dawn is with me constantly. This has been a very rough time, and it also helps ME to be able to help in transcribing her works that are yet to be published. I have had so much encouragement from her good friend Deborah Macgillivray, and that has helped me immensly to be able to get through this whole ordeal. I feel like I am really doing something to help Dawn and to carry out her Legacy now be working on transcribing her works. Diane
Hi Diane! I'm happy to see you're keeping Dawn's blog going for her; you're very brave. I did so enjoy her stories--she had such a wonderful imagination. Good luck!
Gerri
Hi Jacquie Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. You are very right !!! I am so pleased that I am able to help to carry out Dawn's Legacy and transcribe her work to be published, but as I type it, it's very sad to realize that she won't be writing any more wonderful stories for us all to enjoy. I feel so lucky to have been her sister........I just wish that I could have had her with me for a lot longer. Her good friend Deborah Macgillivray has encouraged me so much too and that's what has helped me so much to get through this. Dawn didn't want to be forgotten, and judging from the wonderful support I have received, I'm sure that she won't be. Diane
Hi Gerri Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad that you enjoyed her works. It has been very hard, but it helps me a lot to know that I can lend a hand to keeping her dream and her Legacy alive !!! As I work on transcribing what she wrote, it brings back such wonderful memories for me, of when we were children and she would make up stories for ME alone. I feel that way about each and every one of her books. I KNOW they aren't just for me....LOL....I just FEEL that they are, but I'm also glad that I can share her wonderful imaginative talent with the world.
Hello Diane,
It is a wonderful thing you are doing! Gone but never forgotten!!
Hi Diane - Great tribute idea!
Hi Bridget That's exactly right !!! NEVER FORGOTTEN !!! Dawn did NOT want to be forgotten and I'm so glad that I can assist in helping toward that. In transcribing her work, more of her books will be able to be published and her Legacy will continue. Deborah Macgillivray has been such a wonderful friend and help with this. I only learned to use a computer a couple years ago, and I'm kind of learning as I go. All her support and encouragement has really helped me so much through a very difficult time !!! I really thought that I would have my sister with me for much longer !!! You never know ! Diane
To acdaisy95 I am so glad that I am able to help in some way to preserve Dawn's Legacy. In the process of doing that, I am meeting so many wonderful people ! Diane
What a lovely memory. I can just picture two little girls coloring together and one telling stories. This is a great blog.
What a wonderful way to keep your sister's memory and voice alive for her fans and the world of romance. Thank you!

---I feel like I am really doing something to help Dawn and to carry out her Legacy now by working on transcribing her works.
YOU ARE!!! Your doing this is absolutely wonderful. We're thrilled you're helping and I know Dawn is up in Heaven smiling!!!
No matter what was going on with Dawn physically, she always made time to help newbie writers. She was so generous with her time. She also always sent me an e-card on every Jewish holiday. I will never forget her generosity and friendship.
Victoria B.
Diane, I love Dawn's books, especially Lord of the Deep and her short in Eros Island. She will be missed by her readers.
Hi Jo Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, that is one of my fondest memories. Dawn got so 'into' the stories that she was making up as she went along even as a child. She was my older sister, but not by very much, LOL. I will always treasure all those memories. She wanted to be an author ever since she was a child, and I am so grateful that she was able to realize her dream even if her career was so unexpectedly cut short. I am happy that I can help in preserving her Legacy by transcribing her work yet to be published. Diane
Hi Chris I only wish she left us even more books than she did, but for all her readers, there are still more to come and I am so happy that I can contribute to helping those books to get published by transcribing her work so that the world can enjoy her stories and her Legacy may be preserved. Diane
Hi Leanne Thank you so much for the wonderful words of encouragement !!! I am really enjoying transcribing her work !!! I feel like she is still telling me stories just like when we were children. There is a sadness to it also though as I read her words and wish that she had left us so many MORE books but I'm very grateful for the ones that she did leave us and are yet to be published. Deborah Macgillivray had been such a wonderful friend and so supportive and encouraging to me also. This had been an extremely hard time but through it all, I have met so many wonderful people...I am also very grateful for that ! Diane
Hi Victoria LOL........You just brought back a memory to me !!! As sick as Dawn was in the hospital, when I mentioned in passing to her that I had to get a card for someone for the Jewish Holidays coming up, she got SO UPSET !!! I thought that she was going to try and get out of that bed and go send cards somewhere !!! She was TERRIBLY UPSET that she couldn't send them. I told her that everyone would understand, but that wasn't good enough for her.....She wanted so much to be able to send them !!! She also did enjoy helping and encouraging new writers so much. She loved to give her time to answer questions and encourage. She remembered what it was like starting out as a new un-published writer herself years ago. She wasn't published when she was younger, even though she always worked toward that goal. IMAGINE....just how many more of her books we could have had if she was !!! Diane
Hi Janet Thank you very much for your kind words. I am so happy that you enjoyed Dawn's works. I am also delighted that I can lend a hand in getting more of them published so that they won't be lost to the world. I KNEW even as a child, that she was quite a storyteller. She could make up a story as she went along and keep me spellbound even as a toddler ! As I transcribe her work now.....She is STILL doing it !!! Diane
Hello Diane,
I am so sorry to hear about your sister and this is a great way for people to remember her in her glory days.. She will always live in your heart.. :)

To Azzuhra Hi Thank you for your kind words. The best thing that I CAN do for Dawn now, is to help her memory live on through the books that she has left us that her readers have not yet gotten to enjoy. She did not want to be forgotten, and I know from all the lovely people that I have met, since I started working on transcribing her work, that she won't be. Diane
Hi Diane...I'm sorry 4 ur loss. What a gr8 idea re tribute 2 ur sis & keeping her blog going...I look 4ward reading ur posts. Ada:)
Diane, I am so sorry for your loss. Dawn(and her writing) will be greatly missed. This is a wonderful thing you are doing for Dawn and her memory. I would bet she is looking down and smiling (maybe even laughing) right now. What you are doing now must be very bittersweet for you. I hope getting her last books out helps to bring you some peace.
sandie
Hi Diane,
Dawn and her books will never be forgotten. She was a wonderful writer and I enjoy her books very much. It's a great thing you are doing transcribing her works.
Diane,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dawn was a very talented writer who we only got to know as one for a short time. I am glad that you are carrying on in her memory.
Deidre
I loved the Novella in Eros Island, she will be missed. God bless you and your family in this very hard time.
Lili
Hi Ada I am coming on to answer my posts kind of late this evening. I have been working all day, transcribing my sister, Dawn's work. I'm so glad that I can help to keep her memory and her works alive. She never wanted to be forgotten, and judging from all the wonderful support and comments that I've received, I'm sure that she won't be. I love all your little abbreviations. I'm learning A LOT about computers, LOL. I only learned to even turn one ON a couple of years ago. Diane
Hi Sandie Thank you so much for your lovely words of encouragement ! I HOPE that Dawn is smiling.....I KNOW that she's LAUGHING !!!!!!!! I was never the typist, but I AM NOW, LOL !!! I've only learned how to even turn a computer ON a couple of years ago. I'm SO HAPPY that I am able to help to get her remaining works published for her readers. As I type her words, it's just like when we were children again and she's telling me a story.....that's a WONDERFUL MEMORY that I will always cherish. The sad part about typing her work is that I wish Dawn could be writing more and more stories for years to come, but I'm very grateful for the ones that are still yet to come. She left some really good ones that I KNOW her readers will enjoy !!! Diane
Hi Annalisa THAT is the goal...to not let Dawn be forgotten. I'm so glad that you've enjoyed her work. She never wanted to be forgotten and I'm just thrilled that I can help to transcribe her work so that her readers will still have more stories from her in the near future. I have received so much encouragement on doing the transcribing. Dawn's good friend Deborah Macgillivray has given me a tremendous amount of encouragement to do the work that I'm doing now. I want to help to see her Legacy live on and this is one way that I can do that for her. Diane
Hi Deidre Thank you very much...I am trying my best to see that her Legacy continues by getting her yet unpublished works out for her readers to enjoy. Dawn always wanted to be an author, from the time that we were children...even making up stories to amuse me when we were very young. She never wanted to be forgotten. She wanted to leave something for the world and she has. I am very grateful that she was able to realize her dream of being an author.....I just wish, as so many people have told me, that they do also.........that we had more time with her, but again, I'm very grateful for the works that she has left us that her readers will still have to look forward to. Diane
Hi Lili Thank you for your very kind words ! I'm so very glad that you enjoyed her work. Yes, this has been an extremely difficult time. We NEVER EXPECTED to lose Dawn so soon. We were SURE that she would be back home writing again by now, but that just wasn't to be. I am very grateful for all the works that she did leave us though and for the one that are yet to be published. I does help, that I am able to assist in preserving her Legacy by transcribing her work. I would never want to see her works lost to the world, and I'm sure that her readers will agree with me there. I have received so much encouragement. Dawn's good friend, Deborah Macgillivray encourages me constantly........The transcribing is all very new to me, but I am more than happy to help in this way to preserve Dawn's memory. More works to look forward to........Not to be forgotten. Diane
Hi Diane, I think this blog is great! Sweet to keep it running :)
To Shimmerinmoon Thank you. Dawn left us with still more stories to tell and it's my goal to see that her unpublished works will soon be available on the shelves for her readers to enjoy. She LOVED to write and I want to see her Legacy go on. She was too wonderful a storyteller to ever be forgotten !!! She captivated me with her storytelling back when I was a very young child, and she's been doing it ever since !!! Diane
I do miss Dawn dearly and so happy that you are getting her stories still out. I know emotionally when I see them out but too know that she's watching down and thilled what you and all are doing!
Thanks Diane (Candy!)
Hi Caffey Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, it was very difficult when I first started working on transcribing her work....sad that she won't be here to see her next books in print, and write many more, but I am very grateful that we DO still have these works coming for her readers to enjoy. I'm also so thrilled that I can help to transcribe and get her works published. Dawn and I had planned on doing so many more things together...It's very hard to have lost her so enexpectedly, but I feel like she is with me every step of the way with this and smiling down that we're doing so much to carry out her Legacy. Candy Thompson....Diane is my ' given ' name, but Dawn nicknamed me Candy when I was a baby, so that's just fine with me, LOL !!!
